Emanuil Kolev obtained his LL.M from Sofia University, graduating with honours. In February 2020, he became a PhD Student at Sofia University. In October 2020, he became an Assistant Professor at Sofia University, teaching the subject of Corporate and Commercial Law.
In the period of October-Nobember 2020, Emanuil Kolev was granted a scholarship by the Governemnt of France for conducting high level research in the field of Corporate Law, and more specifically on the subject of Shareholder Rights and Remedies.
In 2018-2019, he has participated in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot on behalf of Sofia University. During the same period, he also coached the Sofia University team for the European Human Rights Moot Court Competition, which took place in Strasbourg, France in April 2019. The team ultimately reached the Grand Final and qualified second in the competition.
In 2017-2018, he has been the Co-Chairman of the Sofia University Civil and Commercial Law Workshop. In 2018, qualified first in the largest moot court competition in Bulgaria- the National Civil and Commercial Law Competition, held in Sofia. In the same year, he qualified first in the 8th National Civil Law Competition, held in Burgas.
In 2017, he participated in the European Law Moot Court (ELMC)-the largest moot court competition in this field. In 2016, he participated in the Europa Moot Court Competition (EMCC), organized by the Court of Justice of the European Union, his team qualifying third. In 2017, he also received the Rising Star Award in the National Civil and Commercial Moot Court Competition.
In 2018, he received the Student of the Year Award of Sofia University in the field of Legal Studies. He also received the Award of the Rector of Sofia University for academic achievements in 2016.
In 2016-2017, he completed the one-year Fulbright Internship at Sofia District Court.
Emanuil Kolev has also presented a number of reports for various legal conferences on topics related to Civil and Commercial Law, as well as the Protection of fundamental human rights.
His area of expertise includes Civil and Commercial Law and Litigation, Competition Law, EU Law and Fundamental Rights Protection.
