Delaying the split between the United Kingdom and the European Union until 30 June will not affect the European elections in May. If the UK is part of the EU, it will have a commitment to organize elections and to send representatives to the European Parliament (EP). Bulgarian National Radio is represented by Ivan Stoynev, attorney-at-law, in the dispute with “Musicautor”. „Musicautor“ which is a non-profit organization for collective management of copyright of composers, authors of lyrics and music publishers has unilaterally decided to terminate its contract with Bulgarian National Radio after the refusal by the public media to pay the requested threefold increase of the funds for the copyright of the musical compositions. The lawsuit brought by the Bulgarian National Radio in the Sofia City Court is about seeking damages, by virtue of Directive 2014/104, as a result of the anti-competitive conduct of “Musicautor” and in particular the abuse of dominant position that it has on the market for granting of wireless broadcasting licenses of music in Bulgaria and in Europe. There is also an ongoing proceedings before the Commission on Protection of Competition initiated by the Bulgarian National Radio against “Musicautor” for abuse of a dominant position.
